I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on my friend's and fellow co-host's podcast, TechVolution, part of the City Podcast network. The topic of discussion was the growing trend of reading books on electronic devices such as the Amazon Kindle and comparing it to reading on tablets like the iPad.
As an avid reader and podcaster, I was excited to delve into this topic and share my thoughts on why and how I enjoy reading books on a Kindle.
One of the main reasons I prefer reading on a Kindle is the e-ink display, which mimics the look and feel of reading a physical book. It also has the added benefit of being easy on the eyes, making it easier to read for longer.
Another great feature of the Kindle is the ability to carry a large number of books with you wherever you go. This is especially handy when traveling or when you want to have multiple books on hand without having to lug around a heavy bag.
The Kindle also has the ability to adjust the font size, line spacing, and the background color of the page making it easy to read in any lighting condition.
While I do appreciate the convenience and features of reading on a tablet like the iPad, I find that the backlit display can be harsh on the eyes and not as enjoyable as reading on an e-ink display. Additionally, a tablet also has the added distraction of notifications and the ability to access the internet which can be a distraction while reading.
Overall, I believe that the Kindle offers a great reading experience for those who enjoy reading on a traditional book-like display. While a tablet may offer some additional features, the Kindle's e-ink display and focus on reading make it the better option for those who want a dedicated reading device.
I enjoyed being a guest on Adrian's TechVolution podcast, and I look forward to our next episode of micON, the Romanian weekly podcast on Apple and other technologies!
Cheers,
