On Communication and Time
In a world where distance no longer defines connection, conversation itself deserves intention. The ritual of the coffee meeting, once the hallmark of business courtesy, now stands as a relic of another pace. I still enjoy coffee—deeply—but not as an excuse to speak when there is little to say.
Technology grants us presence without travel and dialogue without delay. Tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom enable meaningful exchanges in minutes rather than hours. What was once an obligation can now become a deliberate act: a conversation that values precision and purpose.
Time, the rarest of all currencies, is preserved for what truly matters—friends, family, and creation. Each moment saved from a perfunctory meeting becomes an opportunity to build, to learn, or simply to rest with clarity.
Some see the absence of the casual coffee as a loss of warmth. I see it as a restoration of meaning. When we do meet, it is with reason. When we speak, it is with intent. The medium—be it message, call, or shared silence—should always honour the value of the exchange.
Let us communicate with care, using the instruments of our age not for noise, but for connection. When we finally choose to share that cup of coffee, it should feel earned.
